The cafe played indie, jazz, and chill music at a comfortable volume, allowing for easy conversation. There were only a few working outlets, so it's best to come with charged devices. The place was busy, but I didn’t wait long for service. The barista was friendly, and I tried the Moroccan Rose latte with turmeric. It was surprisingly good, as the turmeric and rose balanced the bitterness of the espresso.
This coffee house began the saving of my Philadelphia experience. I was having a hard time, as a visitor, finding the city I needed to find. I'd been guided to Rittenhouse Square, can't think why. And everything was hot. Too hot. Too hot to enjoy wandering. So when I came across this place it was just what I needed. relaxed, comfortable, friendly service, not corporate. No one didn't want to be there. When I went in this door it gave me a chance to cool down, grab a coffee and begin to enjoy being in the city. It was the gateway to small restaurants, bookshops and more that was the Philadelphia I was looking for. I'm so glad I made the effort and, more to the point, I'm glad that they did too. It's just a neighbourhood joint - but that's exactly what a neighbourhood needs.
Stumbled across this place on a walk and loved walking in. The cafe has a homey ambience upstairs to sit and read/get work done, and the basement is a little spunkier to sit down and talk. They have a great bulletin board of unique/interesting upcoming events along with a small bookshelf in collaboration with Lot 49 Books. Did not get a chance to try their food, so I will have to go back! I am a little biased, as I’m not a fan of La Colombe roasters and it would be great to see a local roaster instead. Overall, staff was super friendly and I highly recommend if you’re in the area.
Low-key, down-to earth and slightly quirky independent coffee shop serving La Colombe, Margaret's Bread, other baked good and light sandwiches. Nice indoor/outdoor seating. Open space and friendly staff.
